Balchik

The town of Balchik is located at 17 km from Kavarna and 30 km North of Varna. One of the most beautiful towns at the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. It is scattered amphitheatrically just in front of the sea. A Thracian village was found in the very plateau, where the nowadays Balchik is located.

Today Balchik attracts tourists with its unique ancient houses and streets, which preserve the ancient architecture and spirit. Every street leads to the sea coast and all the year round the town boosts of many tourists. Among the town attractions are: ethnographical museum, the Old Turkish Mosque and the St. Nicholay Church.

The most interesting area is the Queen’s Palace with the Botanical Garden. This is the biggest botanical garden in the Balkans and the second largest in the world. The garden features rare plants.

At 4 km East of the town is situated the area called Tuzlata, renown for its medical mud, recommended for bone associated diseases. There is a big balneological center with camping, bungalows and hotels.

There are mineral springs with temperature of about 31°C, used for internal cure, in the town of Balchik.
